The Cane Corso is a rare mastiff breed that originates from Italy. Its origins can be traced back as far as 1137 A.D. The Cane Corso was introduced to the United States in the 1980’s and has just become accepted by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 2010.
The Cane Corso is a great guard dog, extremely loyal to its family and quite aloof with strangers. He has a very protective nature and yet is able to discern friend from foe. He instinctively knows when to become a terrifying, defensive and protective dog for its owner, his grounds, the house and the whole family. He should be submissive to his family and suspicious of strangers.

We have had our Italian Mastiffs for 16 months and did research on the breed before making the decision to own one. After owning 2 now, this is the only breed I will ever own. They have been the sweetest and most loveable pets I have ever owned. They are part of our family and everyone in our family loves them very much. We are having our first litter of pups on or around March 5, 2011. They will only go to good homes with families that will love them.
Birkner Cane Corso are starting as hobby breeders. Our pedigrees come from respected lines in the US and Italy. Health and hip guarantees are provided for all our pups along with ICCF and AKC registration.
